Writing Revolution

Hi Literacy Lovers,

In this week's episode, we talk with The Writing Revolution authors, Judith Hochman and Natalie Wexler. We love their 'revolutionary' approach to writing! What is it? Writing begins at the sentence level AND content knowledge drives the rigor. Most difficulties in writing either have to do with not knowing how to say what you want to convey (structure) or not having enough to say (content).

You might be wondering... What are the six principles of The Writing Revolution? Find out here!

We absolutely LOVE Natalie Wexler's book, The Knowledge Gap, more than words can explain! This review says it best:

"This book serves as a reminder of our own potential knowledge gap and provides an opportunity for educators to be wiser consumers of information with the ability to ‘distinguish between approaches that are likely to produce the outcomes we want and those that will only lead to a heartbreaking waste of precious time.'"

The Writing Revolution Courses

I took The Writing Revolution Courses about a year ago, and they are WORTH IT! I learned a ton, and it helped me make sense of how to apply what is introduced in the book to my classroom. I would highly recommend the K-2 specific course for concrete ways to apply the strategies with younger students!
